Wi-Fi routers will likely broadcast a network SSID as long as they are powered on. If you don’t see your network broadcasting at all, power is the most likely culprit.

No WiFi Signal Broadcasting?

Your router or access point will probably have small LED lights on it. Each light indicates something specific about the status of that device. If you see no lights, there is probably no power. Try checking the power source for problems to see if that is the issue.

Check Light Status

It’s possible that you can have power, but a network device is in a “hung state”. As long as nothing is damaged or faulty, a power cycle can restore the device to its original functionality.

Power Cycle

If you have a device with an ethernet port and if you have a cable, you can try plugging it in directly to your router to determine if your router has internet from the ethernet port. Carefully insert the cable into each end. Make sure that the cable is plugged in securely on both sides. Once connected, you should see indicator lights on the ethernet ports. You can then try to access the internet again. If you get access using ethernet, then something may be malfunctioning with the wireless radios. If you do not get internet access using ethernet, but you do have power, something may be wrong with your router or your internet connection.

When all else fails, you should contact your internet service provider. In some cases we may be able to contact them on your behalf. Just reach out by calling 800-257-6290, chatting with one of our customer support representatives, or completing a contact form. If you’re the primary contact for the internet service provider, you can find a list of common ISP's by visting our Internet Service Provider Contact Page.
